El Altar, also known as Capac Urcu, is an imposing volcanic mountain located in the Sangay National Park, in the Eastern Cordillera of the Ecuadorian Andes. With an elevation of 5,320 meters (17,454 feet) above sea level, El Altar is one of the most emblematic mountains in Ecuador and a popular tourist destination for nature and adventure lovers.
